“Anne is one great teacher!
In her recent weekend seminar on screenwriting, she captured the attention of a group of would-be writers, which is a feat akin to keeping a cage full of tigers in check. Anne uses wit, savvy, and her prodigious experience to teach how to navigate the often Byzantine inner workings of the film business.
I found the experience extremely worthwhile - not to mention worth the dough. By way of background, I took a year-long seminar with Syd Field, the doyen of screenwriting gurus. I learned more in 2 days with Anne than I did from a year with Syd.” July 26, 2011

“"Anne Jordan is a master at the art of screenplay writing and editing, with a fun and eclectic method of teaching. On the first night of her six-week class she appeared dressed in a costume. As soon as I saw her, I knew this was the teacher I had been looking for. Not having any previous screenwriting experience, Anne’s custom designed “Beat Sheet”, made mapping out the script very easy. Eight weeks after taking her writing class, I had completed my first screenplay. I then entered it in two contests, placing in the top sixteen semifinalists in one, and first place in another. If you’re looking to learn a fast track method to writing a screenplay I would highly suggest Anne Jordan. She's an amazing teacher."” August 25, 2012

“Anne is a talented screenwriter, teacher, and mentor. I attended a college screenwriting course taught by Anne, a screenwriting workshop, as well as the first Northern California Screenwriting Expo, all organized by this dynamic, passionate, and brilliant woman. She is first on my list to edit and help me hone my three screenplays to professional quality pieces of work."

“First of all Anne is very motivating. How? She takes you from whatever experience level you are at and whatever writing ideas you may have. She helped me by seeing the story potential, suggesting details to make the idea/story more marketable, fun to read and visually stimulating.
One exercise was to create a character description of a monster. I didn't see myself as a sci-fi writer, but to my surprise that description uncovered the sci-fi writer I didn't know was in me. I love the completed screenplay. There's action, it's funny and it's commercial.
That's what Anne Jordan does.

“I had an idea but zero technical knowledge on how to turn it into a screenplay. I took Anne's class and some follow up sessions. I now have a screenplay in the correct format and layout that is already attracting some interest from Hollywood. All inside a 3 month period. Can't ask for more than that. Thanks Anne!”

CHAPTER TWO
PLOTS
“The engine that drives the story.”
Here’s another secret that no writer likes to acknowledge - no plot is completely original.
Listen up, folks. There’s no need to re-invent the wheel. Every successful movie follows one of eight main plots. Any story you could possibly write will have a predecessor. It’s your job as a writer to discover which of the eight plots best suits your story.
A good example of where two different movies share the same plot is Avatar and Dances with Wolves. The only difference between the two movies is that Avatar features aliens and futuristic star troopers, and Dances with Wolves features 1860’s cowboys and Indians. In both movies, a less advanced civilization is being targeted by “superior white men.” However, as the stories progress, the heroes learn to appreciate the inner wisdom, kindness, and culture of the less advanced “savages.”
